110 Charlton, in Soho downtown New-York, is a new large development 27-story, 170-unit luxury residential condominium, 228,000 square feet. Average units are 1,350 square feet: from a 525 square feet studio apartment to a 3 bedrooms 2100 square feet penthouse apartment.
Sebastien Segers Architect is leading the interior design of all Front of House areas including the 170 residence units, the ground floor lobby, common lounge and courtyard, the basement fitness center and the roof top.
The apartments Loft style interior design is in coherence with the Artist Studio style of the architecture. Interior features include 10-foot ceilings, eight-inch natural oak wood floors, walnut kitchen cabinetry and full slab white marble counters, expansive stone bathrooms and bright nickel fixtures. The ogee profile, “doucine” in French, is the geometrical theme of the project: apparent on the kitchen island marble top, on the window sill, on the doors details, on the bathroom vanity, on a wall molding of marble in the bathrooms...
The ground floor lobby atmosphere is cosy and residential, white travertine floor and grand stairs with coving on all edges, natural leather wall tiles, brass details, a pallisander reception desk with a thick travertine top showing the ogee shape and bespoke chandelier and side lamps. The design also features state of the art stone chimney in common lounge, contemporary courtyard reflecting pool and open fire pit on the rooftop with a clear view to southern Manhattan and the Hudson river.
The intent is to bring to the residents a tailored feeling, a sense of home, of a serene place to reconcilate. While the interior design shows art & craft attention and material solidity, its simple elegance allows each owner to appropriate the spaces.
The overall interior experience expresses the optimism and self confidence that are the identity of New York city.
Although largely inspired by historical references, the ambition is to deliver a timeless interior, a classic
